About CCRC

An Eight on the Ashley River.

Our Mission

The Charleston City Rowing Club (CCRC), previously the Charleston Community Rowing Club, is a nonprofit organization committed to teaching and promoting the international sport of rowing through coaching and amateur competition for adult and youth rowers.

Our History

The CCRC began as Raptor Youth Rowing in 2007 when a group of parents and students at the prestigious Academic Magnet High School in Charleston, South Carolina formed the first youth rowing team in the Charleston area.  Soon after, in 2012, local rowing enthusiasts started the Charleston Community Rowing Club.  With two thriving organizations sharing practice facilities and a love of the sport, it made sense to combine the clubs. In 2014, Raptor Youth Rowing and CCRC merged to form today’s Charleston City Rowing Club, a single organization dedicated to supporting rowers of every age.  Our members currently include recreational and competitive rowers who practice on the beautiful Ashley River in downtown Charleston.
