Youth Rower

As a youth with experience, you are eligible to become a Youth Rower. In this program, high school students meet multiple times per week (at Brittlebank Park on Lockwood Drive in downtown Charleston, SC) to learn even more about the sport of rowing. We focus on entry-level strength and fitness training, water safety, boat basics, and rowing technique.

We are looking for team-oriented, responsible, student athletes with prior experience in rowing (either gained through completing our Learn to Row course, or personal prior experience) and who are confident around water.

Our current youth crew consists of a co-ed team of approximately 20 members from 11 surrounding Charleston area high schools. Graduates from our program are rowing today at University of Pennsylvania, University of Richmond, Rochester Institute of Technology, Clemson, Northwestern, NC State, and Tufts. Look out for more information on college rowing scholarships soon to come.

Youth rowers compete in two seasons per year, Fall (August – November) and Spring (January – April). For first time rowers, graduation from our summer youth Learn to Row program is required before youth membership. So keep an eye out for more information on summer Learn to Row!
